Tl;dr I'm taking this week off streaming and editing video instead.

I have not done this since the middle of summer. I took few days off of streaming to finish editing my video about returning to the worst map in Dwarf Fortress. The only major project since was my complete read through of Boatmurdered that released back in November. It has been a couple of months and I want to get some bigger projects rolling. Due to the release of the Siege update I have been busy streaming more than the usual amount. This has put a pause on progress on my bigger editing projects. I would like to fix this by taking a mental break from streaming and focusing on a different kind of work this week.

Initially I was planning to do this next week but something has come up. I injured my foot. I made the decision to go out for some drinks on December 26th to enjoy the remaining cheer of the holidays. After stopping at two local spots I like and having three drinks, I went home. It was around 11pm at night and I took a shower. After exiting my bathroom my shoulder caught on my vertically stored bike. The handle bar and brake leaver landed directly on top of my bare foot. I fell over and sat in pain for about 30 minutes. Eventually I was able to stand and just went to bed hoping to sleep it off. The next day I was able to walk but it was not easy. I ended up parking in bed with leftovers from Xmas and a bottle of water. I rested for most of the day before going into the hospital to get it looked at. After a 90 minute wait the nurse said it was likely fine and decided not to do an X-Ray. They said if it continued to hurt in 5 days to come back. Fast forward a few days and as of January 2nd it was still hurting. Sleeping that night was a challenge due to pain shooting up my leg. Saturday morning I booked a video call appointment with my doctor.

Since then I've been in for two X-Rays of different parts of my foot and I'm now on antibiotics for suspected infection. I should be fine but my foot is extremely sore and It is absolutely putting my mood in a rut. Combine this with the tiredness of post major patch streaming I need a breather from being fully engaged on the streaming side of this job. Times like this are often the right time to focus on editing. I don't have to worry about being personable and I can just focus on a doable task. Rather than being a bit grumpy on stream while my foot heals.

So you might be wondering "What are you working on this week?" Well for the most engaged of members of this community you might be aware that I have brought on a part time editor to assist with shorts and Future of the Fortress. The editor is actually the reason I was able to keep up with streaming four days a week during December. I did not feel the need to end early to edit shorts or work on the monthly videos. Since this cut down on the time I spend editing. I was able to focus on streaming. But I am still working on my heavily edited play through content. Such as the The Gremlin that broke Dwarf Fortress among others. I have three projects I would like to either finish or get a good way through this week.

Brainrot aka the smallest map challenge.

Brainrot was a hell of a little fort. I imagine this will end up a similar vibe to my Vampire Fortress video. But instead of Vampires it will focus on Necromancy.

Colourbeard I Created a Monster

In the Fortress I called Colourbeard I built a huge arena. While it took place in the same world as Brainrot, instead of being the Necromancers, we attempted to wipe them off the face of the Earth. In doing so I also built a huge combat arena and trapped Zombies and trained them into super solders. I think this video will be shorter and I can probably get a good bit of it done or at least outlined.

Deep dive and full read through of Roomcarnage.

Some of you might have seen streams from Zombie_Giant_Sponge on Twitch. In the Dwarf Fortress community they are known for writing the incredible tale of Roomcarnage. I want make this into a video in the same style as my Boatmurdered read through. I will not be editing this one, my editor will be in charge of that part. I'll just be reading in front of a camera.

There is technically a 4th project I have in the works but that is a secret.

That is the plan for this week. I apologize about the short notice. I like to announce when I'm going to do this a bit in advance so people are not expecting me to stream and then I don't appear on schedule. For that I apologize.
